STORY
Kontakt is a drama comedy about two Misfits, a madwoman and
a jailbird saving each others life.. Somewhere in Ex-Yugoslavia:
ZANA (25) and JANKO (40) are released the same day. She from
psychiatry. He from prison. Their places were sold to politicians
that try to hide from Den Haag. Now these very opposite persons
are forced to come together, until they realise that they know one
another from childhood - and they fall in love. Zana picks up
something of Janko's negative energy and uses it to get along in
the everyday life. He feels how she takes the pressure from him
and he discovers new aspects of his life. His aggression that he
turned somehow against himself, becomes less intensive. So they
can help along one another. But then Zana discovers the true side
of Janko...After he confesses to her, that he did everything for
money, Zana falls back in her apathy...

Tomislav PINTER, cinematographer
"There is no modern camera without modern directing".
(T. Pinter)
Tomislav Pinter was born on 16 July 1926 in Zagreb, Croatia.
After finishing high school, he enrolled painting at the Academy
of Arts in Zagreb in 1946. He abandoned his studies soon
because he was eager to become a film cinematographer. He has
been shooting independently as a photo reporter for "Filmski
Novosti" since 1948 and he made his first documentary in 1951.
He had his debut in feature film in 1960 with ELEVATION 905
directed by Mate Relja, after which he shot, as a DoP in former
Yugoslav cinematography, a record number of films, as well as
many co-productions with foreign partners.
Among his many anthology achievements as a DoP, there are:
THREE (1965, dir, A. Petrovich); PROMETHEUS FROM THE VISHEVICA
ISLAND (1965, dir, V. Mimica); RONDO (1966, dir. Z.
Berkovich); MONDAY OR TUESDAY (1966, dir. V. Mimica); KAROLINA
ZHASHLER’S WIDOWSHIP (1976, dir. M. Klopchic); as well as
the two films represented in our Balkanika Program as his masterpieces:
FEATHERES’ PICKERS (1967, dir. Aleksandar Petrovic)
and BIRCH-TREE (1967, dir. Z. Berkovich).
Pinter is the most awarded former-Yu DoP for his creativity in the
Pula Film Festival, where he has received numerous "Golden
Arenas." He has also been Bitola’s "Manaki Brothers" Festival laureate
where he has always been an honored and esteemed guest.
